2024 Honda Pilot: Camo Prototypes to Reveal Redesigned Work – Although Honda doesn’t want to reveal much about the upcoming 2024 Honda Pilot, the prototype has undergone testing stage with heavy camouflage, and those spy shots have been around on the net for quite some time. The Pilot is one of the flagship variants of Honda, so it’s only reasonable that the new Pilot should have a unique design and several updates. So, what’s to expect from the new Pilot?
The Redesigned Plan
The prototype vehicle is heavily covered, but some prominent elements show that the Pilot is being redesigned. From the size and dimensions, the new Pilot would be more extensive. It also means that the 2024 Honda Pilot will be constructed on a new platform. Unfortunately, the company doesn’t want to reveal much about their Pilot’s project.
It seems that the new Pilot will be sharing a platform with the Acura MDX, which is also undergoing redesigned work. Both vehicles would use the same chassis, which affects their ride quality. But the most significant transformation will likely happen in the suspension setup. The current one is extremely comfortable, but the new one will probably have a tad of athleticism. The base trim would be offered with a front-wheel-drive system. An optional pick would be the all-wheel-drive system.
The Exterior Design
Under the heavy camo, it’s evident that the new Pilot will have a more rugged style. With the Acura MDX coming with a longer wheelbase (up to 2.8 inches), it’s natural to expect the same from the 2024 Pilot. But Honda hasn’t said anything about it, so we have to wait for further release soon enough.
The Interior Cabin
The changes won’t only happen on the outside but also the inside. There would likely be a new dashboard with better materials and more tech. In terms of the overall layout, it won’t change too much. The longer wheelbase means more space for the passengers. It would come with a three-row arrangement with impressive cargo volume.
Powertrain and Performance
Unlike the exterior or interior of the overall construction, the engine may not have a drastic transformation. The Pilot will still use the V6 unit with a 3.5-liter capacity, delivering 290 hp and 267 Nm of torque. It also comes with an automatic 10-speed transmission. What about mpg ratings? It’s likely similar to the current one, meaning that you can enjoy 19 mpg for the city and 27 mpg for the highway.
Will there be any plug-in hybrid powertrains? It’s possible, although there is no official confirmation about it. The plug-in hybrid system won’t be available for the 2024 model, but it will be offered in the following years.
Price and Release Date
The Pilot should be available around this year’s second half if it goes as expected. The exact date is still unknown, but it won’t exceed 2022. As for the price, there hasn’t been any information about it. However, it’s predicted that the new Pilot may start from around $37,000. For exact information of the 2024 Honda Pilot, we should wait for further official information and an update.
