The Expected Changes Happening to the 2024 Lexus RX – The news about the 2024 Lexus RX redesign isn’t shocking, considering that the company had a completely redesigned task (for the RX) in 2016. The seventh model is due to have a redesign project so that the midsize SUV won’t be a disappointment. After all, many auto enthusiasts believe that a complete redesign would add to the RX’s natural appeal and charm and make it more competitive within the midsize sector.
The (Possible) Exterior Design
Although Lexus hasn’t displayed or previewed their upcoming 2024 RX model, the SUV is predicted to have an almost identical design to the NX 2024. NX had undergone complete redesign work for the 2024 model, so it’s reasonable if RX was inspired by it.
The RX L will benefit from a longer body but will have a similar exterior layout with its three-row arrangement. The longer wheelbase would be enough to accommodate the three rows just comfortably. You should expect a spindle grille, LED running lights, and sharp headlights on the front. At the rear end, updated lighting looks like it matches the curvy roofline.
Auto enthusiasts are more optimistic about the interior cabin of the RX than the current NX would inspire. You should expect a new dashboard that will house an infotainment system integrated into a one-piece instrument cluster. The 2024 Lexus RX would be more streamlined with fewer dials and buttons on the center console. Also, wait for upgraded dials (within the instrument cluster), improved interior space, a better vibe, and better materials.
The RX can also benefit from updated tech features covering Android Auto/Apple CarPlay, 6 USB ports, a WiFi hot spot, and an 8-inch touchscreen display. Hopefully, everything will be improved for the 2024 model.
Powertrain and Performance
The current RX runs on a V6 unit with a 3.5-liter capacity, churning out 295 hp and an auto eight-speed transmission. However, many had hoped that Lexus would change the powertrain arrangement. It’s possible that the RX would be offered with a four-cylinder turbocharged unit as a standard. In a hybrid, a CVT would be the standard. For the combination, it’s possible to have a V6 unit with a 3.5-liter capacity paired up with three electric motors, generating 308 hp.
Release Date and Price
Although Lexus hasn’t said anything official about the release date, many had expected that the RX would be available in fall 2024, and the RX Hybrid and RX L would be a bit later in the reveal. With the redesign work, expect the price to increase, especially compared to the current one. The current RX starts at $46,400 and goes up to $51,300. The RX L is set at around $49,300, while the hybrid is at about $49,100. You can imagine several thousand increases for the new model.
Considering that Lexus RX would be competing against Volvo XC90, Mercy GLE, Beemer X5, and Genesis GV80, Lexus has a lot of serious work to do. They will provide more information about the 2024 Lexus RX once it is ready, so stay tuned!
