The Upcoming Plans for 2023 VW Bus – Everyone has been waiting for the 2023 VW Bus, which would revive the vintage and retro laid-back Bus for the convenient road trips. However, previously, it was unclear whether the Bus would be launched as the 2022 model or 2023 one. But after the recent development that is happening to the company, it is highly likely that the VW Bus would be finally launched as the 2023 model – and there are several reasons for it.
The Journey of the New Bus
The Microbus was first presented as a concept ride back then in 2017. At that time, Volkswagen claimed that they are ready to launch the Bus as the 2022 model. Until recently, they changed the launch date, claiming that the model would be introduced in 2022 as the 2023 model. So, if you are eager to ride on this retro-looking, but all-electric and completely modern ride, then you need to wait a bit longer. The confirmation was made by Scott Keogh, the North American CEO of the VW, stating that they had to postpone the launch date because of their recent situation.
It seems that the 2023 VW Bus has undergone the production stage, which takes place in their manufacturing plant in Hanover, Germany. The plant has been modernized, enabling it to manufacture electric vehicles. Since it is one of the electric vehicles, the battery pack would be placed underneath the interior’s floor. Because of this layout, there is still a lot of plenty space inside the bus. The company has a plan to produce variants for commercial purposes as well as passenger vehicles. But in the meantime, we still have to wait for the official Bus to launch soon enough.
It seems that VW official has released the launch date. This iconic microbus type 2 should be ready for the launch, considering that it has made several ‘appearances’ from its concept in 2017 to today’s date. There have been several teasers of the bus, and if you follow the journey, you will see that the bus itself has evolved. Some of its amazing initial lines have been gone because of the evolution.
The Bus has come with its official launch date, which will take place on the 9th of March 2022. Consider this as the official announcement because it is made by Herbert Diess, the VW president himself through his Twitter. The announcement was accompanied by the model’s sketch that is slowly taking shape.
Powertrain and Construction
This Bus itself has been constructed on the MEB platform, which is the exclusive VW group structure. It has been used by ID.4 SUV, so if you are familiar with it, then you should be familiar with the one on Bus. In terms of powertrain, the arrangement will likely be the same. If everything is inspired from ID.4, then the Bus would be coming with a rear engine that is able to generate 201 hp with a rear-wheel driving system. There are also the optional two motor units, delivering an all-wheel driving system that churns 295 hp. The electric motor is said to cover 320 kilometers to 480 kilometers. All the details of the 2023 VW Bus should be uncovered in March, so stay tuned!
